Trying to be like a Whale

That's right, I am trying to be like a whale. No, that doesn't mean blowing hot air or storing tons of blubber. Some of the whales, humpbacks specifically, head to Hawaii for the winter, so I took there lead, and thus far am far from disappointed.

I'm loving the house we are WWOOFing at, outside of Volcano National Park on the southeast side of the Big Island. I will go ahead and say now, with shades of speaking early on, the program that is WWOOFing is a wonderful idea and a great way to not only catalyze the organic farming movement but it also helps out the farmers, helps people like me learn lots about the process, and is a great way to travel and see a different part of the world. Check it out if you are so lucky.

Here are a few pictures as of late telling the tale of this beginning chapter.

Got my head above the clouds.

The youngest and cutest member of the farm family, Baba, full name Baba Ghanoush.

The fern forest surrounding the house. It really is a jungle out there.

The first beach visit thus far was pretty amazing. We got to eat some super fresh mahi at a stand at the beach then we explored the tide pools created from lava rock and the constant pounding force of the waves, creating nooks and crannies for an alien world of creatures and colors.

So much more to come, hopefully. Loving the island life.

I'm glad that we were able to see some Humpbacks up close and personal in order for you to take your learning experience of being a whale to a whole new level...
